Issue I. How to Determine Chargeable Weight???

Air, Ocean, and Truck Carriers determine the Chargeable Weight based on which ever is greater, the Actual Weight or Volume Weight.

Actual Weight is simply determined by putting an object on a scale. Volume Weight however, is determined by the following formulas:

If dimensions are in inches:

Length x Width x Height x Number of Cartons, Divided by 166 = Volume Weight in Pounds

Length x Width x Height x Number of Cartons, Divided by 366 = Volume Weight in Kilos

If dimensions are in Centimeters:

Length x Width x Height x Number of Cartons, Divided by 2721 = Volume Weight in Pounds

Length x Width x Height x Number of Cartons, Divided by 6000 = Volume Weight in Kilos

Volume itself, in the transportation industry, is commonly measured in Cubic Feet (CFT) and Cubic Meters (CBM).

To find Cubic Feet if dimensions are in inches:

Length x Width x Height x Number of Cartons, Divided by 1728 = Cubic Feet

To find Cubic Feet if dimensions are in centimeters:

Length x Width x Height x Number of Cartons, Divided by 1,000,000 x 35.314 = Cubic Feet

To find Cubic Meters if dimensions are in inches:

Length x Width x Height x Number of Cartons, Divided by 1728, Divided by 35.314 = Cubic Meters

To find Cubic Meters if dimensions are in centimeters:

Length x Width x Height x Number of Cartons, Divided by 1,000,000 = Cubic Meters
